WE NEED YOUR HELP TO COMPLETE THE NEW WATER METER PROJECT

We are in the closing stages of the Water Meter Project. Again, a thank you to everyone who has cooperated and proceeded with having the new water meter installed at their property to date.
We are almost there an at this time, we would like to send along a reminder to the 150 or so properties yet to proceed with the water meter installation that this is a MANDATORY program for all Water Utility customers.

It is important that you make your appointments with Neptune Technology in the near future. If you require details on how to do so, please contact the Water Utility at 902 634 4410 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

By not having the water meter installed, it may result in your service being suspended by the Water Utility, so it is now critical that those with outstanding installs make your appointment immediately.

Important Lunenburg Wastewater Treatment Plant Update

The Town of Lunenburg is planning to perform equipment replacement at the Lunenburg Wastewater Treatment Plant that shall create periods of disruption to the Town’s wastewater treatment process. This period of disruption is tentatively scheduled for a 12-hour period during the week of June 2.

This time could change depending on weather or other factors. It is estimated that during this scheduled period of disruption for the equipment replacement work, approximately 1,000 m3 of partially treated wastewater will be released into Lunenburg Front Harbour from a single relief point located near 34 Bluenose Dr. (-64.31390138, 44.37614024), Lunenburg. This location is the regular release point for effluent from the Wastewater Treatment Plant into Lunenburg’s Front Harbour.

This equipment replacement work at the Lunenburg Wastewater Treatment Plant is integral to the system’s operation and must be completed by altering the regular wastewater treatment process. As a result, the Town of Lunenburg will schedule the period of disruption to take place during expected times of no/low precipitation to reduce flows within the wastewater collection system. This will help to minimize the impact on customers and the environment while ensuring customers continue to have wastewater service during this period.

To reduce pressure on the wastewater system and minimize environmental impact during these periods of disruption, we are asking Town of Lunenburg utility customers to reduce wastewater flows. Please minimize use of running water, flushing toilets or doing laundry during these times.

Further details shall be provided by the Town in due course to confirm the date and time for the commencement of the period of disruption to the wastewater treatment process.
