- Alternatively, you can send your message to the Municipal Clerk for distribution to all Council members.
Submitting Correspondence to Council for the Public Record
If you’d like your correspondence to appear on a public Council agenda, email, mail, or drop it off in person to the Municipal Clerk at:
Lunenburg Town Hall
Attn: Municipal Clerk
119 Cumberland Street, P.O. Box 129
Lunenburg, Nova Scotia B0J 2C0
Note: Correspondence addressed “to Mayor and Council” may be added to the agenda if it is in the public interest or requires Council action. Items related to operational matters will typically be handled by staff, but Council will still receive copies. If your correspondence is added to a public meeting agenda, your name (contact details redacted) will appear in the official meeting minutes.
Opportunities to Engage with Council at Meetings
- Speak During Public Input at Council Meetings
At each regular Council meeting, 20 minutes are set aside for public input on any municipal topic. Each speaker may speak for up to three minutes. This public input does not apply to public hearings, which focus on specific matters like by-law changes or planning issues. - Participate in Public Hearings
Public hearings are held to discuss new by-laws, by-law amendments, and planning-related matters. Notices of upcoming hearings are posted on the Town’s website and social media.
If you’d like to speak at a public hearing, you may register at the start of the meeting. Alternatively, you can submit written comments in advance to be included in the public agenda package. Please send your written comments to the Municipal Clerk at least eight days before the hearing date.
- Make a Presentation to Council
If you’d like to make a formal presentation on a topic within Council’s jurisdiction, please contact the Municipal Clerk at least 10 days before your preferred meeting date and provide a written record (e.g., PowerPoint, report, or speaking notes) in advance for inclusion in the agenda.

Council Members
The Town of Lunenburg has a seven-member council. In our council system, councillors are elected "at large," meaning they represent the entire town rather than specific districts or wards. This means that each councillor is responsible for addressing the concerns and needs of all residents in Lunenburg, rather than focusing on a particular geographic area within the town.
Like all municipalities in Nova Scotia, we are required to hold elections every four years. The most recent election was in October 2024.
The current Council members are as follows:
Mayor Jamie Myra
