The Town of Lunenburg Electric Utility has been notified of an electrical infrastructure situation at the corner of Blue Rocks Rd and Shore Rd that requires immediate attention. As such, power to Gardens Lots and Blue Rocks will be experiencing a power outage within the next hour to safely repair the equipment.
We will follow up with expected restoration time once crews have assessed the scope of work needed to repair.

The Town of Lunenburg Electric Utility (TOLEU) is advising all electric customers of a planned power outage to complete repairs to the Main Transformer at the Starr Street Substation from 11:00 pm, Sunday, September 13, 2026 to approximately 5:00 am, Monday, September 14, 2026.

PELHAM STREET SIDEWALK RENEWAL PROJECT - SEPTEMBER 8

PELHAM STREET SIDEWALK RENEWAL PROJECT - SEPTEMBER 8
Please be advised that Dexter Construction Company Ltd. has been contracted by the Town of Lunenburg to conduct work on a section of Pelham Street. The Pelham Street Sidewalk Renewal Project is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2026, and is expected to take approximately six to seven weeks. In the event of rain or other weather-related delays, the schedule may be extended.
The Project is intended to replace the existing sidewalk along Pelham Street from Town limits at Rous Brook up to the intersection with Shipyard Hill Road, also providing infrastructure upgrades along the curbline and an improved pedestrian crossing at Sawpit Road. The Project is part of the Town’s Capital Budget.
For safety reasons, it is expected that the Contractor shall have traffic management measures for road users travelling through the work zone. The existing sidewalk shall also be impacted through the course of the work, and there may be short periods during construction when the sidewalk or individual driveway access is not possible. The Contractor is required to mitigate these impacts throughout the performance of their work.

A message from Lunenburg Mayor, Jamie Myra:
Thank You, Lunenburg.
As we close out what has been an incredibly challenging few days for our community, I want to take a moment to say thank you.
On behalf of Council - to every resident, business owner, employee, volunteer, and community organization who did their part to conserve water, adjust their routines, support their neighbours, and help us through this situation - thank you.
The fact that we have reached where we are today, as quickly as we have, is a direct result of the incredible buy-in and cooperation from our entire community. Everyone made a difference, and every effort, big or small, helped get us here.
As Mayor, I have to say that I am truly overwhelmed and honoured to be the Mayor of this Town. Watching Lunenburg come together, put aside individual challenges, and work toward the same goal has been incredibly humbling. This is what community is all about.
I also want to recognize our incredible Town team. Our Public Works, Water & Wastewater and Town Hall staff put in countless hours throughout this situation. Their dedication and commitment to our community have been nothing short of remarkable.
We have also been fortunate to receive tremendous support from the Lunenburg County Regional Emergency Management Organization (REMO), neighbouring municipalities and other levels of government. A special thank you to Minister Susan Corkum-Greek, Minister Kim Masland, and Mayor David Mitchell, Chair of REMO, for their support and assistance throughout the week.
We are in a much better place with our water supply because all of us worked together. While we still need to remain mindful of our water use, we can take a moment to recognize what we have accomplished as a community.
Lunenburg showed up for one another when it mattered most.
Thank you, Lunenburg. I could not be prouder of this community, and I am incredibly grateful to serve as your Mayor.
