2026 Town of Lunenburg Representative Volunteer of the Year
Each year, the Town of Lunenburg, the Mayor and Council recognize the extraordinary contributions of volunteers in our community.
In addition, a representative Volunteer is selected annually to be recognized at the Provincial Volunteer Awards ceremony.
This year, the Town of Lunenburg is pleased to announce Craig Munroe has been named as the 2026 Town of Lunenburg Representative Volunteer of the Year!
The Town would also like to recognize the tremendous contributions from fellow nominees – Huw Griffiths, Linda Zinowki and Marilyn Zinowki.
Craig and his fellow nominees were recognized on Thursday,
April 23 at a Volunteer Recognition Reception.
Congratulations Craig, Huw, Linda and Marilyn!
Craig Munroe was nominated based on his work with the Lunenburg Curling Club and the Bluenose Golf Club.
Huw Griffiths’ nomination was based on his volunteer role as the President of the Navy League of Canada – Lunenburg Branch.
Linda and Marilyn Zinowki were recognized for their combined 20 years of volunteer service with the SHAID Animal Shelter.

TOL ELECTRIC UTILITY TRANSFORMER CAPITAL UPGRADES

This letter is to advise customers that TOL Electric Utility Transformer upgrades will begin April 27, 2026 and will continue late fall 2026.
The project will be completed in multiple stages, involving the installation of new conductors, poles, transformers, secondary power lines and services across all Town of Lunenburg Feeders. Work will begin on the 81W-231 feeder on the following roads/streets:
Green Street, Knock Lane, Morash Lane, Victoria Road and Wolff Avenue
During these upgrades, there will be times when short power outages will be required, however, efforts will be made to minimize the inconveniences to residents. Outage information will be provided by contractors, K-Line Construction, and/or town employees.
The safety of both residents and workers is a top priority. Please use caution when traveling through work zones. We appreciate your cooperation as we re-energize Lunenburg! If you have any questions, please contact Town Hall at 902-634-4410 ext 3.

UPDATE ON THE INSTALLATION OF NEW WATER METERS

The Water Meter Project reached a significant milestone last week, breaking through 1,000 units installed/replaced! Thank you to everyone who has cooperated and proceeded with having a new water meter installed at their property to date.
A reminder to the 250 or so properties yet to proceed with the water meter installation that this is a mandatory program for all Water Utility customers. It is important that you book your appointments with Neptune Technology in the near future to meet the early May deadline for completion.

Please Note: Not having the water meter installed may result in your service being suspended by the Water Utility, so we strongly encourage those with outstanding installs to make your appointment.
Notice of By-law Approval: Tour & Horse-Drawn Vehicle By-law

At its meeting on April 14, 2026, the Town of Lunenburg Council approved the Tour and Horse-Drawn Vehicle By-law.
The by-law establishes an updated licensing and regulatory framework for commercial tour vehicles and horse-drawn carriage operations within the Town. It includes requirements related to operator licensing, vehicle authorization, approved routes and loading areas, and operational standards to support public safety, traffic management, and animal welfare.
The by-law also repeals and replaces the former Hack and Trolley By-law.
