PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE - PELHAM STREET CONSTRUCTION

Please note that the placing of asphalt on Pelham Street between King Street and Prince Street is scheduled for Friday, November 28.

While the detour for traffic will still be in place, it is recommended that pedestrians avoid the work area as well if possible.

Line painting will occur Sunday and it is expected the road will be re-opened on Monday.

Committee of the Whole: December 2, 2025 Cancelled

Please note that the Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for December 2, 2025 has been cancelled.

The next meeting will be the Regular Council meeting on December 9 at 6:00 p.m. The agenda package for that meeting will be available on December 4.

This will be the final scheduled Council meeting for 2025.

ROAD CLOSURE - LINCOLN STREET - NOVEMBER 27

Lincoln Street will be closed Thursday, November 27th between Kaulbach Street and Cornwallis Street to perform reinstatements that are necessary from the work done last week.

Please note that trucks and buses coming into Town on Lincoln Street must turn right onto Lower Street. The closure will be between approximately 7:00am - 4:00pm.

NOTICE OF LAND USE BY-LAW AMENDMENT

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Council of the Town of Lunenburg approved an amendment to the Land Use By-law Zoning Map. This amendment rezones the Salt Meadows area from Medium Density Residential (RM) to Low Density Residential (RL).

The new RL zoning restricts development to smaller residential forms – single-unit and two-unit homes with accessory dwellings. This is a change from the former RM zoning, which allowed buildings with up to four units.

The affected area includes Wood Street, Whynacht Street, Adams Street, portions of Wolff Avenue, and PID 60731452 on Rudolf Drive:

In accordance with Sections 247 and 249 of the Municipal Government Act, an aggrieved person, the Provincial Director of Planning, or the Council of an adjacent municipality may appeal Council’s decision to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board. Notice of appeal must be served on the Board within 14 days of the date of this advertisement (November 17, 2025).
