Lunenburg Town Council will hold a public hearing to review an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for two proposed developments within the Heritage Conservation District. The application has been reviewed by staff and the Town's Heritage Advisory Committee, and it meets all requirements of the Heritage Conservation District Plan and Bylaw, as well as all other Town of Lunenburg development rules.

A Certificate of Appropriateness is required for certain developments in the Heritage Conservation District to ensure they align with the area’s historic character and comply with design guidelines. While the proposal meets these standards, Council approval is required under Section 4.8 of the Bylaw.

Proposed Developments:

  1. Lot 2 Pelham Street (PID 60719705): A 2 ½ storey gambrel-style residential style building.
  1. Lot 3 Montague Street (PID 60719713): Two 3 ½ storey gambrel-style commercial style buildings connected by a setback enclosed walkway.

Public Hearing Details:

  • Date & Time: Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025 at 6 p.m. (as a part of Council’s Regular meeting)
  • Location: Council Chambers, Lunenburg Town Hall. Please use the accessible back entrance at 120 Townsend Street, Lunenburg, NS. 

Purpose of the Hearing:

The hearing will provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the proposed developments and allow input before Council makes a final decision on issuing the Certificate of Appropriateness.
