Snow Removal Reminder
- Details
- Published: Thursday, 06 February 2025 13:51
Public Works thanks the majority of Residents and Businesses around Town for their assistance, cooperation and diligence in removing vehicles from the roads, making it safer and more efficient for our crew to perform snow removal duties performed to date this Winter.
Snow has been forecast for this evening and Sunday so we just wanted to remind people of the Town’s Snow Removal Policy.
Any vehicle parked on a street that interferes with or obstructs snow removal or winter maintenance operations may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense, as directed by the Public Works Department and By Law Enforcement. Staff will reasonably try to find the vehicle’s owner and instruct them to move it before having the vehicle towed.
For more information on where you can safely park during snow removal operations, please visit our parking page https://buff.ly/3ECzqHg
Thank you to everyone for your cooperation.

Approval of Zoning Changes for Lower Green St & Tannery Rd
- Details
- Published: Monday, 06 January 2025 12:46
At its October 8, 2024 meeting, the Town of Lunenburg Council approved updates to the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Land Use By-law (LUB). These updates redesignate and rezone properties on Lower Green Street and Tannery Road from General Commercial (CG) to Residential (RES) and Lower Density Residential (RL).
What the Amendments Mean
These changes:
- Return the area to its original residential zoning, reversing the 2021 change to General Commercial.
- Support future development that fits the residential character of the neighbourhood.
- Prevent commercial development that could affect the area’s historic feel.
Provincial Approval
Planning documents like MPS and LUB amendments are reviewed by the Province to ensure compliance with provincial policies. These amendments have been reviewed by the Province and are now officially approved.
While some LUB amendments can be appealed to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (NSUARB), this amendment is tied to a required change in the MPS. Therefore, it cannot be appealed under the Municipal Government Act (MGA).
Effective Date: These amendments take effect as of the date of this notice: January 6, 2025
