WINTER STORM PARKING REMINDER

When the snow comes, we all play a role in keeping our streets safe and passable. To ensure snow ploughing can be done safely and efficiently, the Town needs vehicles off the streets as soon as possible during a storm - ideally before it begins.

With the potential for a significant snowfall on the horizon, please remember to move your vehicle off the road. Vehicles left parked on streets that obstruct snow removal may be removed without further notice. Any towed vehicles will be removed and stored by Corkum’s Towing, with towing fees starting at $250 per vehicle.

The Town recognizes that off-street parking can be challenging, especially during winter storms. To help, residents are permitted to use designated Town-owned off-street parking lots at no cost during storms and snow removal this season (see accompanying map).

There is no permit required to use these off-street parking lots during snow events.

Residents are asked to remove their vehicles from these lots within 8 hours after a storm. This allows our crews to clear those lots for the next storm. Any vehicles left in these lots passed the 8-hour period risk being removed at the owner’s cost.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep Lunenburg’s streets safe and accessible throughout the winter.

CENTENNIAL AVENUE - WATER LEAK REPAIR - UPDATE

UPDATE - 3:33pm

Work has been completed, water service has been restored.

With water service returned, we suggest running a cold water faucet into your bathtub or sink in case of any air discoloration until it runs normally.

We apologise for any inconvenience due to the repair work.

__________________________________________

Public Works will be working on a water leak on Centennial Avenue this afternoon. Work will commence shortly and may last into the evening. The repair will cause a service interruption to Water Utility customers along Centennial Avenue between Victoria Road and Green Street.

Road users travelling through that area of Lunenburg should use caution and follow signage.

It is recommended that residents in the affected area turn off hot water systems as this outage continues. Once the water service is returned, we suggest running a cold water faucet into your bathtub or sink in case of any air discoloration until it runs normally.

We apologise for any inconvenience due to the repair work.
