Folder Planning Advisory Committee

The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) is an advisory committee that plays a role in guiding and shaping the future of our community. PAC operates under the Municipal Government Act (MGA) mandate and provides recommendations to Town Council on various planning matters, including the Town’s Municipal Planning Strategy, Land Use By-law and Subdivision By-law.

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and Recommend: Help shape amendments to key planning documents, including the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-law.
  • Guide Community Development: Offer insights on planning initiatives to ensure they reflect the needs and goals of Lunenburg.
  • Collaborate with Council and Staff: Work closely with council members, the Director of Community Development, and town staff on strategic projects.
  • Engage with the Public: Participate in public meetings, encouraging community input on important planning matters.

Membership:
The Committee consists of three councillors and at least four residents appointed by the Council. Appointments are for two-year terms. 

Commitment:
Members of the PAC are expected to attend evening meetings scheduled by staff and the Committee Chair. The Committee typically meets every few months, but more meetings may be called if necessary.
