We know the planned power outage over the weekend caused significant challenges for many in our community.

In addition to the joint statement issued earlier today, Mayor Jamie Myra addressed the planned power outage at the start of the December 10 Council meeting. His statement acknowledged the frustrations caused by the extended outage and outlined the steps being taken to address the situation and improve in the future.

Key points from the Mayor’s remarks include:

  • An apology on behalf of Council for the significant inconvenience caused to residents, businesses, and customers.
  • A summary of a meeting with Nova Scotia Power managers to discuss how to improve planning, execution, and communication for future projects.
  • A commitment by Council to hold an internal debrief and begin strategic planning, followed by another meeting with Nova Scotia Power early in the New Year.
  • Recognition of the Lunenburg and District Fire Department for their support during the outage.

The Mayor reiterated that the Town is focused on taking meaningful steps to ensure better service and communication for our community moving forward.
